Abstract: The general objective of the paper is to assess the role of monitoring and evaluation functions in achieving project success. To achieve the study objective, an explanatory design along with mixed approach has been employed. Primary data were collected through survey questionnaire from 127 Save the Children’s project staff members who were selected using convenience sampling technique. Interview was also conducted with senior management team members to triangulate the quantitative data obtained from survey. The findings showed that the dimension of monitoring and evaluation practices as system, competency, program accountability and project life cycle stage are positively correlated with project success. It can be concluded from the analysis that monitoring and evaluation experts are contributing to the success of Save the Children’s projects. However, installing a workable system around the leaderships to continuously capacitate monitoring and evaluation staff and reinforce the tools to be used by project managers is highly recommended
