dc.description.abstract | This study attempted to examine determinants of employees work motivation particularly in
selected private commercial bank in Ethiopia by comparing core and support process employees
through empirically testing the variables including work content, working condition, payment,
benefit, promotion, recognition and supervision on motivation of employees. It used a survey
method of collecting data with a sample of 180 selected respondents of which 161 questionnaires
(89.4% respondent rate) were returned. A quantitative methodology of arithmetic means and
standard deviations of descriptive statistics for the independent variables (Work Content, Work
Conditions, Payment, Benefits, Promotion, Recognition, and Supervision) and dependent
variable (employee work motivation) for the respondents were computed. The result shows that,
the mean values for supervision, work content, benefit and working condition were relatively
higher than the mean scores of other variables. On the other hand, the mean values for
promotion, payment and recognition indicated lowest result and showed the areas that employees
were most likely to be de-motivated.
Finally, the correlation result indicated that there were a significant and positive relationship
between all of independent variables and dependent variable. The independent sample t-test
result shows that there were significant difference in mean scores of work motivation,
recognition, supervision and promotion in two groups (core and support process) of employee.
However there is no significant difference among core and support process employees in
working condition, work content, payment and benefits | en_US |
