dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this thesis was to assess the effectiveness of information and communication technology in healthcare the case of Yekatit 12 hospital medical college. This study focuses on the effectiveness of ICT in healthcare in the case of Yekatit 12 hospital medical college. Yekatit 12 Hospital, one of the largest public hospitals and oldest in Ethiopia, has also implemented various ICT capability to enhance its healthcare delivery. A mixed research strategy was used, with quantitative data gathered using a self-administered questionnaire on a multiple choice and scaled question. The descriptive study research design was used with the target population using a purposive sampling technique. The questionnaire was distributed for two different group patient and healthcare provider. For patient the questionary distributed for 80 people, 71 of them responded and for healthcare provider the questionary distributed for 80 people, 59 of them responded. Semi-structured interviews with IT officer were used to collect qualitative data. The quantitative data in this study were processed using the SPSS version 25. Findings of the study majority of respondent believe information and communication technology in healthcare is very important. healthcare provide says it improved their relationship with patient and other healthcare. Even if it has positive respondent, they also believe ICT doesn’t improve there waiting time and they didn’t have access to their medical record this are from patient side. On the side of healthcare providers there are factor influence effectiveness of ICT this are availability of reliable internet connection and they only use electronic health record. The study recommended that the hospital need to update their hardware and network infrastructure. Other suggestion is to expand technology tool that implemented in the hospital for better outcome.en_US
