Abstract: | This study aimed to investigate the assessment of budget and budgetary control practices in
selected private banking in Ethiopia. Descriptive research design was used in this study.
Purposive sampling method was implemented to collect data from 146 respondents through
questionnaire using statements based on specific objectives of the study and secondary data was
collected from banks annual report. Validity of the questionnaire was established based on pilot
study. The target population the researcher wants to generalize is two private banks (Dashen &
Awash bank). Analysis of the data was conducted using descriptive statistics including
percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation techniques were used. In general, most
participants had experienced budgeting control system has an impact on the growth of banks
performance and the budgeting process has a different feature that supports the achievement of
the overall objectives of the bank. The researcher put some implication on the fact that the
private banks should develop a sound budget and budgetary controlling system that includes
objective that helps the growth of banks performance and grand strategy objectives of the banks. |
