| Abstract: | Using project management best practices is essential to organizational performance. Project management is considered to be a more efficient and resourceful method to achieve goals than other existing methods, processes and techniques. Construction project management includes many different phases, including planning, monitoring and evaluation. It can be used to help create an easy-to-understand overview of a project's progress and status, and it can help resolve issues sooner, reduce cost changes, realize benefits expected benefits and complete the project within the agreed period. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the project planning, monitoring and evaluation activities of the Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise. The study applied mixed approach and used descriptive research design. Primary data was collected using interviews and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using percentage, standard deviation and mean. As a result, the research results show a low level of project management practice in the organization. Research also shows a higher level of planning practice in the organization than in other process groups. In addition, the study revealed a low level of practice in terms of risk, procurement, communication, project control, cost, time, and documentation. Therefore, the study recommends that the organization emphasize or pay more attention to the processes related to project control, risk, procurement, communication, cost, time, documentation, usage. Project management standards and disseminate lessons learned during the implementation of each process group to strengthen project management practices at the Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise. |
