Abstract: | The study of social capital in Ethiopia is at an infant stage and its yield is not impressively documented. Accordingly, the current study sought to explore the working of social capital in the development of Afar pastoral community. To this end, the study employed a quantitative cross-sectional survey design. Relevant data was collected from 390 respondents drawn from a sample of 422 participants. Regression and Mill’s Method of analyses were employed to refine important concepts and evaluate the relationship between social capital and development. The findings of the study confirmed that the relationship between social capital and development is significant and positive. This entails that social capital is one of the key assets of Afar pastorals that potentially contribute to the current and future pastoral community development interventions. |
