Despite the increasing number of women in prison who have children, little is known about their children‟s situation during their imprisonment. This study attempts to assess the condition of children of incarcerated mothers. Survey method, In-depth interview, Focus Group Discus-sion and Observation tools were mainly used for the purpose of data collection. Accordingly, 32 incarcerated mothers in Adama Prison Administration were asked about the general condi-tion of their 28 children. In addition, five children were interviewed about their condition in the prison. The findings indicated that children of incarcerated mothers live in a very difficult con-dition deprived of their basic needs and rights. The findings have led to some recommendations that will help to change the conditions of the children who are living imprisoned.
