Abstract: | Educating girls is one of the most important investments that any country can make in its own future. In the life of a girl student, the academic pursuit is mostly emphasized as deemed to be an only key to her success in life. Among the successes girls’ empowerment through their participation in co-curricular activities beside the academic performance is a major attribute. This study assessed contribution of girls’ participation in primary education towards women empowerment from private and public schools. Teachers, school principals and girls students involved in the research. The major factors affecting girls’ education and participation role in primary education towards women empowerment categorized under Home – Girls – School – Student titled matrix form. Four factors will weaken or improve girls’ empowerment in school. The study found out that girls’ participation plays a great role in contributing to women empowerment. Primary school is foundation stage. Thus, the linkage among primary level grades; primary to secondary and secondary to preparatory should not be broken. The girls’ empowerment theoretical framework is produced as result of the study which has four integrated components – mind development, co-curricular activities, safe and secures environment and school- teachers’ high involvement. Education strategies should encourage, widen co-curricular activities and provide all necessary facilities. |
