Abstract: | The main aim of this study was assessing the relationship between Organizational Climate and Nurses’ Professional Commitment in the Public Hospitals of Addis Ababa. A causal research design is adopted using quantitative study methods. The research approach which used for this study was Quantitative in Nature. The target population of this study were nurses of Addis Ababa public hospitals. From 3654 total population, 382 nurses were selected from the total public hospitals in Addis Ababa, that would be divided into three strata based on the management organization. To undertake the study, Questionnaires were distributed to 382 nurses and the respondents were found valid for analysis. The results of the study indicate that organizational climate has a significant positive relationship with Nurses’ professional commitment. A significant difference was observed on nurses’ professional commitment depending on their work experience. Correlation analysis and linear regression was used to analyze the gathered data. The result of the study indicates that there is a significant relationship between organizational climate and nurses’ professional commitment scales (r = 0.332, N = 382, α = 0.01). Linear regression analysis revealed that organizational climate significantly predicts the level of nurses’ professional commitment and all the dependent and independent variables were normal distribution. Concerning the difference of nurses’ commitment to their profession based on their years of experience the analysis of variance (ANOVA) results showed that there is significant difference of commitment across nursing work experience with nursing experience increase, commitment will be increase. Discussion and conclusions are made based on the results. Finally, some recommendations are indicated for possible interventions and further study. |
