Abstract: | Addis Ababa road construction Authority is established to construct road in the city by promoting development agendas by mobilizing fund from domestic and foreign sources while ensuring its sustainability. However while implementing the project the company has faced delays which is caused by different factors. To have successfully operating projects that can meet the predetermined goals, projects should be accomplished on time, if delayed, the causes must be known first. The aim of the study, therefore, is to assess the major factors for project implementation delay. This study investigates the causes of delay in project implementation in Addis Ababa road construction Authority. The study adopts quantitative methods with the help of primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected using self-administered questionnaires on 150 selected respondents from 174, total population. Secondary data was collected through reviewing of related materials such as road construction project contract documents and project completion reports. This research categorized the causes of delay under six main groups of client related, consultant related, contractor related, external related, material related and labor related. Then assessed their impacts on delay using relative importance index (RII) as a basis for analysis. |
