Abstract: | The relationship between training and development and employees’ performance as well, the effect of training and development on employees’ performance were not evidently known at Trade and Industry Office of Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-city Administration.Themain purpose of this study was to examine the effect of training and development on employees’ performance. The study adopted mixed research approach and particularly correlational research design was applied. For this purpose, a sample of 95 employees were drawn through simple random sampling technique and 10 team leaders drawn through purposive sampling technique. Selfadminister questionnaire and Interview guide were used to gather data. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS-Version 20. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the data analysis. The descriptive statistics such as frequency, percent, mean and standard deviation were used for describing the demographic characteristics of respondents and the whole perception of respondents on relationship of dependent and independent variables. The inferential statistics like Pearson correlation and simple linear regression were used to show the relationship between independent and dependent variables and to determine the effect of independent variable (TD) on the dependent variable (EP).The findings of the study indicated that, training and development processes were not fully implemented/effective at Trade and Industry Office. The result of Pearson correlation coefficient also indicated that, training and development were positively and moderately correlated and claimed statistically significant relationship with employees’ performance. As well, training and development had positive effect on employees’ performance. Finally, the study recommended that at Trade and Industry Office, training and development have to be strategic and systematic; that means careful preparation and planning are neededin order to achieve its desire and objective. |
