Abstract: | Ministry of culture and tourism sector in Ethiopia currently face a significant economical scale gap. Research has shown that strategic management is to exploit and create new and different opportunities for tomorrow; long range planning, in contrast, tries to optimize for tomorrow the trends of today. This study aims to assess the practice followed by Ethiopian tourism in the ministry of culture and tourism in Addis Ababa on the strategic management processes. This study targeted and assesses; to what extent does ministry of culture and tourism use properly the strategic management practices in each phase. The descriptive research design method is adopted, in order to achieve this study. A stratified sampling design method was used to get the accurate representation of the population from managerial and non-managerial strata. Primary source of data was used with the help of interview guide and questionnaire. Secondary source was also reviewed to assess the strategic management performance of the ministry of culture and tourism. In this research among the phases of strategic management practices, the findings demonstrated outstanding defect on strategy implementation. The results indicated that MoCT should work on each phase of strategic management but the main focus should be strategy implementation hence the finding weighted toward it. |
