dc.description.abstractThis study sought to investigate the effects of extrinsic motivation on teachers’ organizational commitment in Repi Abel Secondary and Preparatory school in Addis Ababa. The study used descriptive survey and explanatory research design and the data was gathered using questionnaires and interview. The total number of the population was 111 and all were included on the study. Data was collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using statistical package for social science (SPSS). The data was presented using tables; percentage, frequency standard deviation, Pearson product moment correlation and multiple regressions were used to investigate the effect of identified variable on employee commitment. The correlation results implied that supervisory support (r=, 789, P<0.01) working condition (r= .736, P<0.01) job security (r= .672, P<0.01) and salary (r= .651, P<0.01) with employee’s commitment. The major finding of this study is that the independent variables which are supervisory support, working condition, job security, and salary have strong positive relationship and significantly high association and effect on employee commitment. From the study it is conclude that 78.6% of variation in employee commitment is explained by supervisory support, working condition, job security, and salary. All these variables have strong effect on employee commitment. Among them supervisory support has a greatest rate of influence. Concerning the level of employee’s commitment, the finding indicated that there is low level of commitment. The researcher recommended that the concerned authorized parties of the organization should revise and improve the identified four factors that have strong influence to improve the commitment of their employee.en_US
