Abstract: The main purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of working environment on employees’ commitment at Development Bank of Ethiopia. The study implemented Explanatory and descriptive research design to identify and evaluate the relationship between working environment and employees ‘commitment. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were used to collect data through the utilization of a questionnaire and interviews respectively. The respondents were purposively selected from six working units of the bank at head office level. A total of 238 respondents were participated in the study. Primary and secondary data were used to find out the research output. To generate the output of the study results the statistical software version 20.0 was used. The collected data were analysed by using descriptive statistics analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the result of analysis the researcher concludes that all working environment dimensions physical working environment, psychosocial working environment and work life balance has a significant and positive effect on employees’ commitment. The study recommended that the Bank should proactively work towards participating employees, creating positive employee perception by establishing convenient working environment. To successful implementation of working environment it include in strategies of the bank and should have a culture of providing on boarding and orientation, psychical workplace, psychosocial workplace, work-life balance,. Also there should be a constant communication between top management and all employees of the Bank to understand employees’ perception and to create committed and valuable employees and to achieve the strategic goal of the Bank.
