Abstract: Work place motivation plays a key role for workplace productivity and quality. The researcher observed that the lack of employees motivation brings high absenteeism and high cost. The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is any relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation with employee performance. The survey was carried out at the head of save the children International, Ethiopia Country office where by descriptive statics such as percentages, Frequency are used to measure the percentage of returned questionnaire and also used to describe respondents profile such as their gender, year of service in the organization and their perception on motivation. The Pearson correlation is used to measure the significant of linear biviarate between independent and dependent variable to measure relationship between intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation and job performance there by achieving the objective. When selecting sample of the study, probability, stratified random sampling is used so that each member of the population has an equal chance of being selected. The key finding of the study is employees are more motivated by intrinsic factors rather than extrinsic. However, we cannot overlook both in motivating employees. The finding of the study also indicated that there is a positive and significant relationship between intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation and Job performance .The study recommends that if top management put their focus up on intrinsic motivators then it will lead towards a positive increase in employee’s performance
