Abstract: The main purpose of this research is to investigate the practice and challenges of training and Development practice of Awash Bank, Ethiopia. The Significance of this study is to examine whether the employees training affect the organization overall performance, and assess major challenges to the training and development practices. The researcher used simple random sampling technique and 214 employees were selected from Head Office to participate in this study. The researcher was also used both Primary and Secondary data. Questionnaires were distributed for sample respondents and returned with response rate of 93.4%. Data was collected using a set of questionnaires and interviews. Data analyses was done using descriptive statistics like Tables, Frequency and Percentage, standard deviation and mean in order to present the practice and challenges of training. As the goal was to see the practices and challenges of the Training and Development at the case bank, the collected data were analyzed and discussed. The result showed that there were positive and negative outcomes/challenges to the training and development practice at the case bank. Frequency distribution was used to see the individual result of the study. Relevant literatures were also reviewed about topics related to this research. Recommendations and conclusions form the last part of this paper
