Abstract: | Job satisfaction has been a question mark and in debate by the researchers since long. It gained much importance due to its significance for the achievement of objectives of any organization. The purpose of this paper is to assess job satisfaction of employees in five purposely selected North Addis District branches of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (Addis Ababa, Arada Giorgis, Aratkilo, Selassie and Mehate Ghandi) in Addis Ababa. This paper, therefore, aims to identify employee’s satisfaction among the factors such as pay, promotion, supervision, benefit, rewards, operating procedure, coworkers, work itself and communication. So as to achieve the objectives of this study, information was gathered through Spector standardize questionnaire. Qualitative research approach and Descriptive Study was employed from a sample of 206 respondents. These respondents were selected using yemane sampling technique. The data collected from the questionnaire were analyzed using statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation, percentage and tables. According to the findings of this study the researcher conclude that employees were most satisfied with relationships that they have with their co-workers and communication in the organization and least satisfied with the pay and benefit that they earn; generally employees of the bank enjoy average level of overall job satisfaction Finally, recommendations were made based on findings in order to enhance the job satisfaction of CBE employees in Addis Ababa, and for further research. |
