dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted in Addis Ababa city Administration, Arada sub city, district five and
seven.Entitled Assessing the Role of Arat-Killo Child Care and Community Development
Organization in Poverty Reduction. The concern of this study was to provide a relatively
complete and reliable picture of the situation of poverty in district five and seven, focusing on
the socio-economic situation of inhabitants. The study was also attempted to show the resource
available for beneficiaries and response of AKCCCD in Poverty reduction and improve the
environment that is supportive for poverty reduction.
The study used both qualitative and quantitative techniques to gather relevant information.
Different categories of respondents, which were the units from which information was collected,
had participated in this study. The total subjects of the study were 67.Data was collected using a
structured, semi-structured and unstructured questionnaire for different categories of
respondents. From a total of 60 beneficiaries and 7 key respondents participated in the study. In
the study, it was found that the majority (75%) of beneficiaries were female while the remaining
(25%) were male. The study showed that the average income of the respondents is below 100
birr. The study also showed that 93.33 percent of respondents do not have their own houses.
Most of the key respondents agreed that the magnitude of poverty in the area is extreme though
difficult to pinpoint the exact number and all of respondents agreed that children are highly
exposed to poverty. AKCCCD Organization provides services to children and women and it is
contributing in the effort of poverty reduction. The agency should investigate the satisfaction of beneficiaries and services should be provided in an integrated way. | en_US |
