Factors Affecting Pregnant Women’s Preferences of place of Delivery inYabello Town, Oromia Regional State, South East Ethiopia.

Abstract

The aim of the dissertation is to explore pregnant women's decision-making andmajor influences on their preferences for a place of delivery. The study was conducted in yabello town area in Oromia Regional State ,South East of Ethiopia with the aim of investigating the individual, community and health facility level factors affecting pregnant women’s preference of place of delivery. In depth interview,key informants interview, FGD, document review and personal observation were used as method. three major issues were revealed. first attitudes and cooperation with in the health care system was identified as main factor.Secondly cultural aspects such as influence from decision makers,and traditional views concerning danger signs on pregnancy and delivery were important.Finally, distance and transportation and cost was shown their influence on choice place of delivery. We conclude that the most respondents who uses the health institution in Yabello town were those with better education level and better in income.
