Abstract: | The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of job stress which comes from the extended working hour schedule on employee job performance for those who have late hour working schedule particularly for LIB. This research study attempts to explain the various theories related to job stress and assess its effect on individual and it cumulative effect on organization and forward the possible coping strategic mechanisms. Primary data for the study was obtained through questionnaires for 196 employees and use interview from the banks top management, using structured questions to explain the main objective of the research. The study used the quantitative and qualitative data collected from the respondent carefully analyzed and interpreted in a descriptive research design to meet the objectives. The data were analyzed using statistical techniques: SPSS version 20, using frequency table analysis. The study found that job stress negatively affect the employee performance of LIB employees through employees disability paper; sick leave and constant tardiness, absenteeism and presenteeism and high staff turnover but there is also information gap between the top management teams assumption of the long working hour on employees and the feelings of employees in the operational level of management in the bank. In order to enhance job performance the bank needs to use shift work and flexible work schedule, besides employees need to be motivated and balanced their personal and work life in a relevant manner. Relaxation training that can develop skill to manage stress factors successfully and organizing job stress committee are also recommended. |
