Abstract: To improve the health care service in Ethiopia, the Ministry of health started to introduce private wing practice in public hospitals. This research is intended to assess the impact of private wing practice on the quality of health care service Menilik II hospital. Data was collected through structured questionnaire from the patients and medical staff. The result was analyzed using SPSS soft ware. Secondary data was also collected from the hospital’s private wing financial documents. Results showed that the financial benefit from the private wing service has not contributed significantly in the medical staffs’ decision not to resign, the facilities of the hospital still show very small improvement, and the patients believe they are getting reliable and equitable service. On the other hand the patients reported the administrative procedure is inefficient. Therefore a continuous improvement of the administrative procedure and non financial incentive of staff motivation are recommended
