Authors: Tsehay, Tsion ,Eyuel, Hana Alemayehu ,Aynalem
Abstract: This study examines the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in United Bank S.C. by focusing on processes, practical challenges and prospects, of implementation IFRS as the way forward. The study adopts a qualitative research approach. Specifically, the study uses in-depth interviews with key informants from the Financial Department and other related offices, IFRS implementation team leaders, and from among those who prepare financial statements. In addition, the study employs data obtained through document reviews. The result of the study reveals that implementation of IFRS in United Bank benefits the bank as well as the country by enhancing the quality and comparability of financial reporting, reducing the inconsistent and fragmented financial reporting. Moreover, attracting foreign direct investments increases the Bank’s performance. However, the overall finding shows that implementing IFRS is infested with a multitude of challenges of which lack of competent human resources with IFRS knowledge, lack of top management’s support, lack of strong regulatory and enforcement institution, and, lack of strong accounting practices in the country are some of the prominent ones. This study suggests that to support the sustainable implementation of IFRS and to strengthen the regulatory body and enforcement institution, adequate resources must be put in place.</summary>

Abstract: The aim of the project is to advance the St Mary’s University schedule in the distribution of generated schedule in secured and time saving manner. The suggested system avoids the current manual working environment by replacing it with technology reliant working area or office. This will increase accuracy, reduce redundancy and occurrence of complications during scheduling process. Implementing the project requires to change the current scheduling software with the new system software which is capable of generating schedule much more effectively, and facilitates distribution of schedules through storing the generated schedule on system server. The students and instructors of the University retrieve it from any place or any time they need it using android installed mobile app or website through connecting to the system server. The backup method can be generated easily by the programming office. The system incorporates the advanced features which let the students and instructors participate in the scheduling process allowing them to give suggestions. The system counts and calculates the students vote on changing of the tentative schedule. It then sends it to the admin system software to be considered on generating the final schedule. This avoids the tedious checking of the notice board for the students and lets the instructors interact with program office without having to go to the office directly. This saves the instructors time and energy; it also reduces the institute’ cost on schedule printing paper.</summary>

Abstract: The issues of service excellence and productivity are paramount in any organization, especially organizations such as a bank, tele-com etc. Therefore, we intended to aid the in- service quality of those organizations by bringing software called “Incident Management System” that automates the manual incident handling system. This system registers every incident which affects the organization’s service; and assigns these incidents to the person who resolves and provides solution to problems. Finally, the System produces, summarizes reports regarding incident details in terms of what kind of incidents occurred and which service was affected by these incidents; how many of the incidents were resolved, on progress and closed. In addition, the users of the system have their own accounts (user name and password) for security issues; and a clear and defined classification related with their job responsibility. The system also has incident priority set up which helps classify incidents with risk level; and it can allow escalate incidents between persons holding the same position in an organization or between supervisors and subordinates. Incidents are a common obstacle of organization’s service quality and productivity. This system results in significantly improved ways in which the incidents are timely resolved and the services restored to normal state.</summary>
